HURRICANE SEASON ?

Though some "fret" over Hurricane Season -- the fact of the matter is that Hurricane Season is, literally, half the year, starting at the end of May and going through November.

Some resorts (Sandals and Beaches Resorts) offer a "Hurricane Guarantee" but "hurricanes happen" and you shouldn't try to plan your wedding around them as the number of hurricanes to actually HIT these islands over any given 10 year period is LESS than 1 a year.

The SOUTHERN most islands, like St. Lucia, Barbados, and The Grenadines see fewer hurricanes than most due to the fact they are at the bottom of the Caribbean. As storms come across the "tropical convergence zone" from Africa, many turn North before heading toward these islands while other come across these islands and, upon entering the warmer waters of the Caribbean THEN turn into hurricanes. These southern most islands may, on occasion end up with some heavy storms but are least likely to have hurricanes.

The NORTHERN most islands in the Caribbean also average fewer than 1 hurricane a year and often only portions of these islands see any direct effects when hurricanes do occur.

PLEASE NOTE: It is during this "hurricane season" when the Caribbean is at its busiest - so "don't worry, be happy" and just do it !
